Just posting a short note to bitch and complain about the Weather Channel. Over the last few months it has become painfully obvious that their interests include much more than just weather.
You would think that with all of the tropical storms and hurricanes visiting the USA they would be too busy to keep sending out a steady supply of “Doom and Gloom” Covid-19 articles.
I was under the misconception that the Weather Channel was a WEATHER information sight. When did they decide to become another main stream media outlet spewing negatives across the landscape. I truly believe that the world in general has a pretty good understanding about the dangers of the virus. They just keep piling on with the negative news trying to out do everyone else. It’s a lot like many media outlets during a war who would rather report the body counts instead of actually getting out there and investigating. Big headlines always work it seems. Check these out.

This is just a small sampling of their headlines. If you want to be truly depressed go to their web site and read the details. There are enough idiots out there spreading the news about Covid-19. I think the Weather Channel should just stick to reporting the weather. There are enough disasters going on there to keep them busy for months.
I’m sure they’ll claim it’s a public service to keep us informed but I’ll still be removing their app from my devices until they stop the headline grabbing.

As I’ve stated so many time before I love people-watching. In these day of the pandemic people-watching has taken a weird turn. Let me explain a bit.
Back in the day when crowds of people were everywhere people-watching was easy. Go to a Mall, a retail store, or anywhere alcoholic beverages were served, sit down and watch. These days it’s a real chore to people-watch unless your really committed like me. After months of watching thousands of masked people going about their lives I discovered a number of things.
While I was in the hospital and doctors offices everyone was masked as you would expect. I had tests, scans, and hours of conversations with women whose faces I couldn’t see. One in particular was especially eye- catching due to her lovely figure, beautiful hair, and killer eyes. I see now why most Muslim men prefer their women wearing head coverings. So after weeks of becoming friends with her I couldn’t take it any longer and finally asked her to pull down the mask so I could see her face. I now understand what that old saying about “being careful what you ask for” really means. To me she was beautiful because of her wonderful personality not her looks.
Mean or Nice?
During that same time period I made that same request to another young lady who I didn’t consider all that striking but who was such a nice person I really just wanted to be able to recognize her in the future if I saw her again. She dropped her mask and my jaw dropped as well. She was absolutely beautiful. I was speechless and felt a little guilty about making unjustified judgements about her.
Masks make it possible for everyone to hide. Not only can’t our faces be seen neither can most of our facial expressions. I find myself making funny faces, sticking out my tongue, and muttering curse words muffled by my mask. If I’m doing it I’ll just know everyone else is doing it as well.
Here are my conclusions:
Beautiful Women and Handsome Men can’t be recognized just for their good looks anymore and are now forced to rely on their personalities to impress people they’re dealing with.
Everyone else can now show you how beautiful they really are without worrying about their looks and using their personalities as they always have.
We should make wearing masks mandatory for everyone. Imagine political debates with all of the candidates being masked and forced to rely on facts instead of bad puns and fake smiles. A masked JFK might never have been elected if all of the women in the country weren’t going GA-GA over his looks. Who knows?
Here’s my Public Service Announcement . Just so you know I’m not wearing my mask right now so please sanitize your hands and wipe down your computer. You can’t be too careful. The media might announce tomorrow that the virus can be spread through computer use.
I received the final evaluation yesterday concerning by cancer status and the news was everything I’d hoped for . . . Cancer Free. Now that I have my life back I can return to bitching and complaining about the rest of it.
Co-Vid seems to be the main topic of conversation and it should be. Along with my other issues the virus was always in the back of my mind like a black shadow ready to pounce if I stopped paying attention. Chemo therapy pretty much kills off your immune system making it virtually impossible for your body to defend itself. I was warned constantly by a host of medical professionals about contracting ANY kind of infection because if one came along I wouldn’t likely survive the experience. I was banned from eating any unpeeled fresh fruit due to bacteria and germs carried on the outer skin. Sounds really awful and guess what? It is.
Now that I’m on the mend I hope my immune system will soon be returned to normal. Then I can start worrying about the rest of my family members like the two grandsons who started school this week and their parents who are out there doing their jobs and keeping their fingers crossed and masks on.
As always I plan for the worst case scenario and hope for the best. With this virus I don’t see anything good coming down the road. Like it or not the world will have to adapt to the new reality. It’s extremely hard to intellectually deal with a circumstance where you have little or no control over anything. Add to that fact the plethora of fake news and unqualified experts spewing misleading and pumped up statistics to scare the absolute shit out of everyone. It’s not helpful at any level.
Wear your masks, maintain the proper distances, and hope for a vaccine sometime soon. I know one thing for certain, I won’t be volunteering for human trials with any proposed vaccine. I’ve used up all of my STUPID years ago.
I’ve had an epiphany of sorts in recent weeks which has brought me back to this blog with a new perspective on just about everything. I abandoned the blog shortly after being diagnosed with colon cancer last November. I went to the emergency room thinking I had the flu but after a CT Scan was given I got the bad news. Suddenly my priorities changed completely and the blog was forgotten.
I’m now 10 months into my cancer education after suffering through MRI’s, CT Scans, sonograms, colonoscopies, PET Scans, and three fairly serious surgeries. I lost most of my large bowel and a third of my liver and had a port permanently installed in my shoulder to receive chemo therapy. I’ve had 12 session of chemo which is almost worse than the cancer. Blood tests every two weeks with a mandatory doctors visits to analyze the blood results.
It sounds awful and unfortunately and guess what . . . it is. This will be the only time I’ll bring up the dirty details of my experience. I just wanted everyone to know why the blog was abandoned.
This coming Tuesday I’m scheduled to meet with the Oncologist to find out if I’m cancer free. Cross your fingers for me. I’ll keep you posted.
