08/13/2022 🤩CELEBRITY ODDITIES🤩   Leave a comment

I’m not a lover of celebrities because in all cases they are as flawed and screwed up as the rest of us. Being famous just makes their activities even worse than what they actually are because the media just won’t let go of things. Here are a few celebrity facts that most of you should find interesting. As I’m told so often, “everyone loves celebrities”. Well almost everyone.

  • In 2006, William Shatner was paid $25,000.00 by an online casino for a kidney stone he had recently passed.
  • Charlie Chapin once placed third in a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest.
  • Martha Stewart once dated actor Anthony Hopkins but dumped him because she couldn’t separate him from Hannible Lecter, his character in Silence of the Lambs.
  • Elvis Presley got a “C” in music in eight grade and was told by the teacher that he had no singing talent.
  • Actress Cybil Shepherd dated Elvis in the 70’s and hinted on the Oprah Winfrey Show that she had to teach him how to perform cunninlinqus.

  • Mickey Mouse creator Walt Disney was afraid of mice.
  • Actress Drew Barrymore began drinking at age nine, smoking weed at ten and snorting cocaine at twelve. She then entered rehab at age thirteen, the youngest star ever to do so.
  • False web rumors began to circulate in 2005 that TV star Jaleel White (Urkel on Family Matters) had committed suicide and left a note that read “Did I do that?”, Urkel’s catchphrase.
  • Nobel Prize winning biologist Francis Crick was high on LSD when he discovered the double helix structure of DNA.
  • Actress Rebecca Gayheart while on her cell phone stuck and killed a nine-year old girl in LA in 2001. She pled guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to three years’ probation and a fine.

7/13/2022 Misheard Lyrics   Leave a comment

Recently while watching Facebook, I was entertained by a British comedian whose name I can’t remember, and his whole routine was based on mishearing or misreading music lyrics. He was hysterically funny and motivated me to do a little more research on the subject. Here are few samples of misheard lyrics that I’ve stumbled upon and will share with you.

  • “Gladly, the cross-eyed bear” This was taken from an old hymn, “Gladly the Cross I’d Bear”
  • “Dead ants are my friends, they’re blowing in the wind” from Bob Dylan, “The answer my friend is blow’in in the wind.”
  • “There’s a bathroom on the right.” Creedence Clearwater Revival, “There’s a bad moon on the rise.”
  • “Doughnuts make my brown eyes blue.” Crystal Gayle, “Don’t it make my brown eyes blue.”
  • “Just brush my teeth before you leave me.” Juice Newton, “Just touch my cheek before you leave me.”

  • “Baking carrot biscuits.” Bachman-Turner Overdrive, “Taking care of business.”
  • “I am a pool hall ace.” The Police, “My poor heart aches.”
  • “The girl with colitis goes by.” The Beatles, “The girl with kaleidoscope eyes.”
  • “You and me and Leslie.” The Rascals, “You and me endlessly.”
  • “Midnight after you’re wasted.” Maria Muldaur, “Midnight at the oasis.”

I’m sure this has happened to all of us at one time or another as we cruised around in our car with the radio blaring. Traffic noises mixed with loud rock music and garbled lyrics make for some interesting mistakes. One or two of the ones listed above sound very similar to some I’ve made and there are many more but I’m not listing them. It’s a little embarrassing.

REGARDLESS, LUV THE MUSIC

10/27/2021 Stupid Celebrity Quotes   Leave a comment

Here’s the third list of stupid quotes as promised. I wouldn’t want the celebrities to feel left out. Regardless of what they say, they love any and all attention they can get. We should be soooooo proud.

  • “Sometimes what I actually love to do is go to a farm and get fresh milk or watch a pig get slaughtered.” – Jake Gyllenhaal
  • “I felt like my vote was the vote that put [Obama] into office. It was down to one vote, and that was going to be my vote. And that may not be true, but that’s how much power it felt like I had.” – P Diddy

  • “I’ve been up and down so many times that I feel as if I’m in a revolving door.” – Cher
  • “How the fuck am I supposed to get in then?” – Kate Moss, on being told that the only available toilet on a photoshoot location had no door.

03-27-2015 Journal – Workout Oldies and a New Baby!   Leave a comment

One of my first tasks today was to get in a vigorous workout to start the day. Most days I turn on the TV or a movie and crank up the treadmill to a quick speed with a steep incline.  I’m averaging forty-two minutes a session and watching TV for that long has started getting really old.  On a good day there’s precious little on the tube that can hold my interest for forty-two minutes.

Today I decided to plug into ITunes and spend my time listening to my newly updated Favorites List. I have quite the collection of music and it was a tough job picking out fifty songs from over seven thousand. It took some time but it was worth it. I ended up with forty-five songs that met my stringent qualifications.  It had to be a song that no matter when I heard it I’d stop what I was doing to listen.

It took twelve songs to complete my workout and the time seemed to fly by. Listening to good music is like having your own time machine.  As soon as I hear a song it takes me straight back to a specific point in time and a specific person as well.  So here’s my list of today’s twelve workout songs:

  1. Love Letter -  Clairy Browne & the Bangin’ Rackettes
  2. Up on Cripple Creek – The Band
  3. Kokomo – The Beach Boys
  4. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club – Beatles
  5. Nights on Broadway – Bee Gees
  6. Uptown Girl – Billy Joel
  7. The Guitar Man – Bread
  8. Gypsy Woman – Brian Highland
  9. I’m Your Angel (Duet w/R. Kelly) – Celine Dion
  10. How ‘Bout Us – Champaign
  11. Down in Mexico – The Coasters
  12. Run Through the Jungle – Creedence Clearwater Revival

If those songs don’t get your heart started then you’d better call for help. Say what you want these so-called Oldies more than hold their own against today’s Hip Hop generation.

I spent some time today preparing for the arrival of the grandson who’ll be staying with us until after the birth of his soon to arrive new sibling.  The doctors intend to induce labor today so we’re hopefully looking at an early morning arrival by the baby.

This waiting has been murder for both of us almost as much as for the mother and father. She’s two weeks late and it’s been making everyone absolutely crazy.   Hurry up and wait until the baby decides to get here.
