06/03/2025 A LOOK BACK – POLITICAL COMEDY   Leave a comment

I really do try to avoid writing about politics and politicians. No matter what you write your going to piss off a great many people. I’ve always found politics to be a necessary evil but I avoid political discussions religiously and religious discussions politically. It can be a great source of humor which is it’s biggest selling point for me. I do miss the days of Marion Barry in DC and his constant stream of misstatements and BS. I prayed that he would eventually run for Congress and be elected because the shit-storm he could have caused would’ve had me laughing for years. In his honor I dedicate this post of some of his most incredibly stupid quotes and nose-sniffing behavior. It makes me very nostalgic.

  • “I’m providing you with a copulation of answers to several questions raised . . .”
  • “The contagious people of Washington have stood firm against diversity during this long period of increment weather.”
  • “I promise you a police car on every sidewalk.”
  • “I am making this trip to Africa because Washington is an international city, just like Tokyo, Nigeria, or Israel. As mayor, I am an international symbol. Can you deny that to Africa?”

  • “What we have here is an egregemous miscarriagement of taxitude.”
  • “Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country.”
  • “There are two kinds of truth. There are real truths, and there are made-up truths.”
  • I am a great mayor, I am an outstanding Christian man, I am an intelligent man, I am a deeply educated man, and I’m a humble man.”

My Fav

“What right does Congress have to go around

making laws just because they deem it necessary.”

01/30/2022 Who is Dumbest?   Leave a comment

Marion Shepilov Barry was an American politician who served as the second and fourth mayor of the District of Columbia from 1979 to 1991 and 1995 to 1999.

Who is the dumbest? This might be the stupidest question ever asked by anyone including myself. There is so much dumb going around in recent years, it would take me forever to put a coherent list together of the worst of them. I’ve been alive a long time and I’ve seen dumb, heard dumb, and on occasion spoke dumb myself. It’s only right that I’ve chosen to honor former mayor Marion Barry of Washington D.C. fame. He had problems putting together an eight-word sentence and if you don’t believe me, read on. His dumbness was also all too obvious when it came to hookers and crack cocaine. Someone at his level of stupid deserves to be memorialized by me, today and here are his tidbits of wisdom . . .

  • “There are two kinds of truth. There are real truths, and there are made up truths.”
  • “I am a great mayor, I am an upstanding Christian man, I am an intelligent man, I am a deeply educated man, and I’m a humble man.”

How could we possibly go wrong when this is the standard someone has to meet to be elected in the nation’s capitol. Is it any wonder Washington D.C. and Congress are eternally screwed up? Instead of firing and prosecuting Mayor Barry, we should have elected him President, it worked so well for Bill Clinton, so why not. I shouldn’t complain, I guess. If all politicians were actually what they claimed to be I wouldn’t have anything to write about.

IT’S TOO BAD ABOUT BARRY, BUT HE WAS NO DAN QUAYLE

I’ve always loved slamming celebrities and today will be no different.  I do it fairly by just simply using their own words against them.  Many of these so called celebrities insist on disturbing my calm by being in my face at every turn on both TV and radio. They’re determined to explain to me how much smarter they think they are about politics, the environment, and any other effing cause they are promoting.  It became tiresome more years ago than I care to mention. Since I can’t tell them in person what I think about them without being accused of being a stalker or paparazzi, I’ll use this blog to at least vent enough to make me fell better.

You can take the Bill Maher’s and the Susan Sarandon’s of the world and all of their wack-job friends and ship them wherever you’d like.  Just get them out of my face.  Here are a few quotes that I’m sure these geniuses wished they’d never made.  Here we go . . . .

  • Question: If you could live forever, would you and why?
Answer: "I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever."
    – Miss Alabama, 1994 Miss USA Pageant
  • "Researchers have discovered that chocolate produces some of the same reactions in the brain as marijuana. The researches also discovered other similarities between the two, but can’t remember what they are."
    – Mat Lauer, Today Show, NBC
  • "I haven’t committed a crime. What I did was fail to comply with the law."
    – David Dinkins, New York City Mayor answering accusations that he failed to pay his taxes.
  • "Smoking kills. If you’re killed, you’ve lost a very important part of your life."
    – Brooke Shields
  • "We’re going to turn this team around 360 degrees."
    – Jason Kidd, Dallas Mavericks
  • "I’m not going to have some reporters pawing through our papers. We are the president."
    – Hillary Clinton
  • "Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country."
    – Marion Barry, Washing, D.C. Mayor
  • "It isn’t pollution that’s harming the environment. It’s the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."
    – Dan Quayle, U.S. Vice President

I will admit that celebrities make writing this blog easy at times.  They are the proverbial “gifts that keep on giving” and I for one appreciate it.

And as a final thought, thanks to Fred Thompson and his celebrity buddies trying to convince all the seniors in this country that reverse mortgages are the best thing since sliced bread.  What a giant load of crap.
