Let’s add up the tally for today. My better-half has a day off, that’s one. The sun is shining and the day is clear, that’s two. I’m sitting enjoying my morning caffeine, that’s three. The yard and home are in desperate need of attention and cleanup, that’s four. Do you have to guess what’s coming next or can you do the math.
A sunny yet cold day that’s deceivingly enticing can be instantly turned into a backbreaking, ball-busting labor camp by my better-half who’s heavily intoxicated with a killer dose of Spring Fever. I’ve again been assigned the position of worker bee while the Queen barks orders as she lays on her comfortable chaise lounge on the deck. I exaggerate a bit for maximum effect since I know she’ll be reading this later.
Clean that porch, lift that barge, tote that bale, rake the yard or you’ll land in jail. What more can you ask for but a huge amount of work that needs doing and a person who stands by to assist you in doing them in the proper order. This is just the beginning of another Spring that forces all Maine residents to get up and get moving.
You need to understand that the growing season in the state of Maine is about fifteen minutes long. Winter starts in late October and lasts into May. Then you have a few weeks of rain and mud and all of a sudden it’s June. If you plan on your garden being successful without fear of frost you must wait until mid June before planting. That gives you about ninety days to grow your garden, harvest the fruits of your labors, and begin preparations for the coming winter. So complaining about the Spring cleanup is a total waste of time. The work must be done quickly but never silently. I work a lot better when I can schedule a few “bitch breaks” to make myself feel better.
We made a great deal of progress today but there’s still a lot of work ahead. I finished up in mid afternoon and we returned to the house to be hit with the Boston Marathon bombing news. Our sympathies go out to those families who’ve suffered the ultimate loss and those with maimed or wounded members. It’s a sad fact of life that these killers are still out there and we’re still as vulnerable as ever, even after spending billions on prevention.
I only hope our current administration shows more resolve in dealing with terrorism than it’s shown in the past. The Presidents speech last night didn’t fill me with confidence. I would have thought that Mr. Charisma could have shown a bit more emotion or actual concern. I guess his charisma only kicks in when he’s talking about himself. I can already picture his possible cynical political maneuvers from this tragedy. This may give him the excuses to push for armed drones flying over American cities armed with Hellfire missiles to kill suspected terrorists. God help us all!
I’ve been watching and listening to the the President and his minions for years now. I’ve discredited him when I could and attempted to convince anyone who would listen to not give him their vote. To those of you who refuse to see the truth then you’re obvious one of the Obama’s loyal “Kool-Aid” drinkers. My response is for everyone to listen to our pass presidents for guidance and help in these perilous times. Listen up!

I’ve been listening to the political reporting very closely for the last few weeks and I’m seeing a number of things occurring that I warned everyone about more than a year ago. I can go into the specifics but I suspect it will do little or no good and a total waste of my time. Most of the people in this country have gotten too fat and far too comfortable to listen or believe what the Obama administration has been doing. They continue their relentless attack on our civil rights or what rights “We the People” have left.
I won’t get into the abuses of the NSA in the monitoring and collection of information on all of us under the guise of combating terrorists. Or the use of anti-gun rhetoric to collect more private information to add to the federal databases. They know that an attempt to ban or collect guns could create an uprising they couldn’t control and even possibly cause an outright rebellion. So they do the next best thing which is to scare the gun owners and manufacturers into agreeing to more intrusive background checks, gun registration, and other steps. This makes it much easier for Big Brother Obama to then track gun owners, their guns, and to collect as much additional personal information as they can.
I’ve watched Obama and his administration totally ignore and disregard the constitution since stepping into the office of the Presidency. I’ve also watched the Main Stream Media ignore almost every occasion in which attempts were made to violate the Constitution. Even the liberal leaning courts have given up our rights without flinching. Is this the beginning of the end of the United States as we know it? It’s a slippery slope when we allow our civil rights to be steadily worn away by greedy and conniving politicians out to feather their own nests.
The constitution apparently has lost the respect of many of the American people who seem more concerned with what they can leech out of the government rather than respecting how this country was created. I never took the term “nanny state” too seriously until recently. I’m sure our fore-fathers are spinning in their graves with what is occurring in the nation they founded. Listen to our first president and then look at what’s happening in our country now.
“The basis of our political systems is the right of the people to make and alter their constitutions of government. But the constitution which at any time exists, until changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole people, is sacredly obligatory upon all.”
George Washington (1732-1799) Farewell Address 09/17/1796
When the left tries to influence public opinion it’s always “about the children”. Everyone is willing to give up more tax dollars and their civil rights to protect the children. What will happen to the children in twenty years when the government finally takes complete control of this country and suddenly reminds you, you no longer have any rights. It will too late then.
Just saying again.
OK everyone, let’s all stand up and cheer for the ever so popular ACLU who has again come to the rescue of Americans who have little or no respect for their county or their fellow citizens. It seems that I’m reading a steady stream of ACLU involvement defending indefensible positions much more than in the past. It seems that the Obama administration takes many of the same politically correct positions giving the ACLU the courage to increase their politically active agenda.
Over the years the ACLU has morphed from defending the constitution in many important decisions to an organization more concerned with political activism than the law. It’s an organization comprised of a fanatically driven group of attorneys and liberals desperate to destroy anything that doesn’t fit their concept of what American life should be. The United States was doing fine before this organization came along and in my opinion would be doing much better without it. For most of my adult life I’ve consistently spoken out against the ACLU and it’s policies. Their recent forays into political correctness will speak for themselves:
-
In an effort to help Sen. Larry Craig, the American Civil Liberties Union is arguing that people who have sex in public bathrooms have an expectation of privacy. Craig, of Idaho, is asking the Minnesota Court of Appeals to let him withdraw his guilty plea to disorderly conduct stemming from a bathroom sex sting at the Minneapolis airport.
-
Did you know that the ACLU has filed a suit to have all military cross-shaped headstones removed and another suit to end prayer from the military completely. They’re making great progress with the help of the Obama administration by banning Navy Chaplains from using the name of Jesus in prayers.
-
The Ku Klux Klan has a right to adopt a highway, the American Civil Liberties Union said yesterday, announcing that it would accept the white supremacist group’s request for representation in its dispute with the Georgia Department of Transportation. The ACLU has previously said it views the case as a free speech issue, but its state executive director wouldn’t elaborate further.
-
A 12-year-old girl in Minnesota is suing her school with the help of the ACLU because she says administrators made her hand over her Facebook password and poured over her account, reports CNN. The move came after the girl got into trouble for some posts: In one, she wrote that she hated one of the school’s adult hall monitors; in another, a mother complained to the school that the girl was talking about sex on the site with her son, notes Courthouse News Service.
-
Genuine death threats don’t tend to come with "LOL" and a smiley face attached, notes the ACLU, which has filed a lawsuit on behalf of three expelled eighth-graders in Indiana. The 14-year-old girls were kicked out of school for a Facebook conversation in which they talked about which classmates they would most like to kill, reports the Wall Street Journal. The ACLU says the girls were just engaged in "teenage banter," and their use of emoticons shows that they were joking.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. The ACLU started out as an organization with high ideals but has turned into more of a subversive group determined to undermine this country. Watch what you say or they’ll be suing you next. They have assumed the role of the PC Police with a little pat on the head from Barack Obama.
I closely follow the news every day, not through the Main Stream Media but on the web where “fair and balanced" reporting can still be occasionally found. To say things have become quite scary in recent months is no joke.
Last month I celebrated two years of blogging on both this blog and a year and a half on my former blog, Anti-Stupidity Central. I suppose my initial timing with ASC was fortunate with the upcoming presidential election helping keep me focused and supplied me with lots of material. On that blog I’ve written a number of times voicing my concerns for our country and the apparent fools who someone (definitely not me) voted into office.
One of my biggest bitches and complaints involved the evolution of political correctness, it’s negative uses, and everyone’s lackadaisical attitude and failure to take it seriously. In recent months it’s become worse due to the re-election of Obama in his last lame-duck term. It’s motivated the left to push the limits of responsibility and common sense like never before at the expense of our country, our well being, and our children’s future.
Political correctness is an insidious and evil method used by some to undermine what was once a stable and proud country. That’s been eroded away slowly by decades of influences from liberal Academia, the Green movement, the ACLU, the liberal media, and the liberal special interest groups and politicians. In my opinion it’s become the norm in this country and is so ingrained in our society that it may never be able to be stopped. I hope I’m wrong but I’m no longer even sure it’s possible to fix things.
Many of you reading this will certainly try to downplay what I’m saying and even ridicule me personally. That’s one of the benefits of free speech that I see this administration attempting to pervert and eliminate. Ask Bob Woodward how he feels when he’s openly threatened by the White House for disagreeing with the President. That’s not only a blow against Freedom of Speech but also Freedom of the Press. Only a damn fool or a total idiot can’t understand what a dangerous road we seem to traveling down.
I guess my interest in “Political Correctness” started in earnest approximately twelve years ago when I read an interesting speech written by Bill Lind for Accuracy in Academia at American University. As you read these excerpts from that speech try to remember that it was written more than ten years ago long before the country had slid so dangerously close to the edge of that smelly cesspool of “political correctness”.
The Origins of Political Correctness
“Where does all this stuff that you’ve heard about this morning – the victim feminism, the gay rights movement, the invented statistics, the rewritten history, the lies, the demands, all the rest of it – where does it come from? For the first time in our history, Americans have to be fearful of what they say, of what they write, and of what they think. They have to be afraid of using the wrong word, a word denounced as offensive or insensitive, or racist, sexist, or homophobic.”
“We have seen other countries, particularly in this century, where this has been the case. And we have always regarded them with a mixture of pity, and to be truthful, some amusement, because it has struck us as so strange that people would allow a situation to develop where they would be afraid of what words they used. But we now have this situation in this country. We have it primarily on college campuses, but it is spreading throughout the whole society. Were does it come from? What is it?”
“We call it “Political Correctness.” The name originated as something of a joke, literally in a comic strip, and we tend still to think of it as only half-serious. In fact, it’s deadly serious. It is the great disease of our century, the disease that has left tens of millions of people dead in Europe, in Russia, in China, indeed around the world. It is the disease of ideology. PC is not funny. PC is deadly serious.”
“If we look at it analytically, if we look at it historically, we quickly find out exactly what it is. Political Correctness is cultural Marxism. It is Marxism translated from economic into cultural terms. It is an effort that goes back not to the 1960s and the hippies and the peace movement, but back to World War I.”
“In 1923 in Germany, a think-tank is established that takes on the role of translating Marxism from economic into cultural terms, that creates Political Correctness as we know it today, and essentially it has created the basis for it by the end of the 1930’s.”
“These origins of Political Correctness would probably not mean too much to us today except for two subsequent events. The first was the student rebellion in the mid-1960s, which was driven largely by resistance to the draft and the Vietnam War. But the student rebels needed theory of some sort. They couldn’t just get out there and say, “Hell no we won’t go,” they had to have some theoretical explanation behind it. Very few of them were interested in wading through Das Kapital. Classical, economic Marxism is not light, and most of the radicals of the 60s were not deep.”
“We can envision a future, if we can only destroy this existing oppressive order, in which we liberate eros, we liberate libido, in which we have a world of “polymorphous perversity,” in which you can “do your own thing.” And by the way, in that world there will no longer be work, only play. What a wonderful message for the radicals of the mid-60s! They’re students, they’re baby-boomers, and they’ve grown up never having to worry about anything except eventually having to get a job. “Do your own thing,” “If it feels good do it,” and “You never have to go to work.” , “Make love, not war.”
“In conclusion, America today is in the throes of the greatest and direst transformation in its history. We are becoming an ideological state, a country with an official state ideology enforced by the power of the state. In “hate crimes” we now have people serving jail sentences for political thoughts. And the Congress is now moving to expand that category ever further. Affirmative action is part of it. The terror against anyone who dissents from Political Correctness on campus is part of it. It’s exactly what we have seen happen in Russia, in Germany, in Italy, in China, and now it’s coming here. And we don’t recognize it because we call it Political Correctness and laugh it off. My message today is that it’s not funny, it’s here, it’s growing and it will eventually destroy, as it seeks to destroy, everything that we have ever defined as our freedom and our culture.”
I hate being forced to write such depressing news but not only is this blog meant to inform the readers it’s also a way for me to maintain my sanity by venting when necessary. I find it necessary right now. It’s just frustrating for me when I see more citizens of this country attempting to tear it down than to build it back up. A true recipe for disaster.
Well, we’re into February which means our winter here in Maine is a little more than half over. Now for the bad news. I’ve started receiving tax documents from here, there, and everywhere and if I’m like everyone else in this country, I hate doing my taxes. It’s like stealing from your own bank accounts and then being forced to do the paperwork too. Not only do I think were being over-taxed, I think we’re getting close to that critical tipping point where we’re paying more in collective taxes (federal tax, local tax, surcharges, fee, and fines) than we’re allowed to keep.
My first big question for the Fed is how many dependents can I actually claim. For most of my life I could answer that question without giving it too much thought. Unfortunately those days are gone forever. I’d really like to know since the IRS isn’t too understanding about errors on their tax returns and they seem to get some perverse thrill out of kicking all of us little guys around. Years ago it was just me, my wife, and child, easy right? No more.
With the advent of the Obama Nation slowly taking control of almost every facet of our lives, what do I do? This comprehensive list of my dependents is my conundrum:
12 million illegal immigrants
3 million drug addicts
42 million people on food stamps
2 million people in over 243 prisons
535 persons in the U.S. House and Senate
1 Narcissistic President
I should be getting back a freaking boatload of money if my calculations are correct but I won’t hold my breath waiting for that to happen. C’mon Barack, just give me one penny for each person listed above and I’ll be able to buy an island and establish my own country. Then I could declare war on the US and immediately surrender when their troops arrive. The surrender would be conditional with the US required to pay war reparations and an annual check of foreign aid for the rest of my life. If they can keep me funded and happy I’ll be their most loyal ally. Free money, no taxes, and no politicians to bribe or coerce. It could be the new Garden of Eden without the stupid snake and the apple tree. See, I really do have a plan if those A-holes in Congress and the White House would just cooperate.
The Ides of April are fast approaching. I hope I can find an acceptable solution to my problem by then. Have a wonderful tax season this year because next year it will be much worse.
Here are the statistics folks, 4100 pages and 199 Chapters. This marks the finish of my Harry Potter reading extravaganza. I couldn’t put the last book down and finished reading it at 3:00 this morning (OMG). I’m so glad I made the journey through those books because it offered me a much richer story and well defined characters that the movies ever could or did. If you’re an avid reader I’d recommend reading the story from start to finish to anyone. Rowling made a boat load of money from her efforts with Harry Potter and in my humble opinion she deserved every bit of it. It’s time to move along to the next reading challenge and to leave Harry and his friends behind. Hopefully I’ll figure out what that challenge will be very soon.
In my travels yesterday I stopped at a local Starbucks in an attempt to give them one last try to wow me with their over priced products. As you can tell I’m not a fan but I’m willing to spend my hard earned money in an attempt to find something they sell that is worth the price they’re charging. I’d like nothing better than to have a second option for coffee buying besides Dunkin Donuts.
I recently saw a television ad where Starbucks was pushing a new product, Vanilla Blond Roast. They indicated in the ad that it’s for people who desire a milder version of their overpriced regular coffees. Being the nice guy that I am I walked up to the counter and ordered a “Grande” (that a medium for everyone else on the planet) Vanilla Blond coffee. It was freaking awful. I gagged down a couple of swallows and delivered the remainder directly into a nearby trashcan. I must say that I really had low expectations to begin with and they didn’t even exceed those. As I said so many times in the past, “Starbucks Sucks”. The only good thing I’ve gotten from Starbucks in recent months was a few free apps for my IPad. In the future I’ll just walk to the register, take the weekly free app card, smile at the barista (just so you know, that’s a cashier), and walk away. I’ll then jump in my car and make my way to DD for a real cup of coffee at half the price. Just saying!
I’ll leave you today with a joke I heard recently. Everyone needs a laugh or two especially at the expense of the King Obama. Enjoy!
Obama was leaving the country club golf course when he was accosted by an armed robber who demanded, "Give me all of your money!"
Barack haughtily replied, "Do you know who I am. I’m the President of the United States!"
The robber snarled back, "Then give me all my money."
I knew it, it made you smile too!
I really try never to be a person who uses class-warfare tactics like so many people in this country do today. That puts me in a definite minority as reflected by Obama’s re-election. Everyone claims to hate negative campaigning but those same people allow it to effect their vote. People say they hate smooth talking, insincere politicians and then vote them back into office without a second thought. I’ve finally been forced to admit that people who feel as I do and live their lives as I do are losing the battle for this country. I see Obama’s plan working as he probably knew it would. He’s a master manipulator and uses ethnic issues and race better than most KKK members. I understand why the “have not’s” flock to his banner because of his divisive campaigning techniques that have convinced a majority of the country that without his government they are doomed. I suppose I’ll now be listed as a crank or someone who is no longer in touch with the rest of the country. That’s a label I wear proudly and always will. You may find this interesting so read on.
"The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."
It doesn’t take a genius to determine where this country currently is on this road-to-destruction list, is it? I’d say we’ve just crossed over into “Apathy to Dependence”. Obama has steadily pushed, pulled, and manipulated the nation to the edge of this cliff and he’ll continues to push until we fall off. His next big challenge will be the rewriting of laws concerning term limits for the Presidency. He will certainly attempt to stay in office as long as he possibly can. Add that together with increased dependence on the government, voter apathy, and a loss by the younger generations of pride in their country, and here we are.
