07/29/2022 More Number Freaking   1 comment

I’ve posted previously about what Number Freaking is all about. If you’re really interested just do a search to read those posts. Today’s number freaking facts and stats concern sex. I knew that would get your attention very quickly. Read on and be educated . . .

  • The Penguin Atlas of Human Sexual Behavior claims sexual intercourse takes place, worldwide, 120 million times every day. Assuming an average of one male per coupling and one orgasm per male It is estimated that 30 million billion (30 quadrillion) sperms are in the hunt every day.
  • Assuming a healthy male can make as many as 1500 sperm a second, in 1 min. he can produce 90,000 sperm.
  • There are 2.2 billion adult women on earth. It would take one man 17 days to make one’s sperm per woman.
  • The average number of kids born per women worldwide is 2.8. So, assume an average woman will lose 28 menstruating months to pregnancy during her lifetime.
  • The average woman will menstruate 19.66 quarts of blood in her lifetime. That’s about the same amount as two cases of wine.

  • The average American man first gets married at the age of 28.7 years and dies at the age of 76. A duration of 47.8 years. If he could manage having sex three times a day every day until he dies, he would’ve had intercourse 52,376 times.
  • According to the Penguin Atlas of Human Sexual Behavior the country boasting the longest lasting sexual intercourse is Brazil at 30 min. The USA, Canada, and Brits follow with 28, 23, and 21 min. respectively. The quickest sex in the world takes place in Thailand in 10 min. and Russia in 12 min.
  • The data shows that almost 88% of men’s penises measure between 5 and 7 inches when erect. When relaxed 90% of men are 3 to 5 inches.
  • Kinsey also reports that the average vagina is 3 inches long with a diameter of .8 inches when aroused, and 3.75 to 4.1 inches long with a diameter of 2.3 to 2.5 inches when stimulated (so it’s wide enough for birth).
  • Women in Kinsey studies said that on average they took just under 4 min. to achieve orgasm, flying solo. Practicing with a partner, however, it took between 10 and 20 min.

And here is one of my favorite factoids concerning men. There is a popular assumption that man think constantly about sex. Globally, life expectancy at birth, for a man, is 65 years. If we assume men start thinking about sex with the advent of puberty, which we’ll assume to be at age 13, that means men will think about sex every 6 seconds for 52 years or 273.5 million times.

NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL AN OBSESSION

A week or so ago I posted a list of rather disgusting and disturbing facts about food and the hundreds of possible bacterial issues they provide.  Never let it be said that I don’t pass along a continuous stream of useless information to my audience.

With that thought in mind I decided today I’d post a list of somewhat interesting facts about everyone’s favorite subject. . . . Sex!  I’m also reasonably sure that none of these facts will initiate any sort of sexual arousal in anyone..  Read on and learn a few things you really don’t want or need to know.

  • In an international survey, 14 percent of people admit to having slept with a friend’s lover behind his/her back.
  • Some women are allergic to their male partners semen, a condition known as human seminal plasma hypersensitivity.
  • One study reports that autoerotic asphyxia, or cutting off oxygen to the brain to achieve greater sexual satisfaction, claims the lives of 500-1000 men each year.
  • Keeping a condom in your wallet is a bad idea. The constant friction and temperature changes can cause microscopic tears allowing sperm to get through.
  • According to one researcher, women have a higher likelihood than men to settle for a mediocre sex life and unmet emotional needs.
  • The average U.S. male’s sperm count has declined thirty percent in the last three decades.
  • The average size of an erect penis is five inches, while the average flaccid penis is three and a half inches.
  • The sale of sex toys and vibrators is banned in Alabama and Mississippi.
  • Wearing too much makeup can mask the scent that attracts men to women during ovulation. An experiment found that a women’s armpit scent was at it’s most attractive to men between the end of her cycle and ovulation, but that this smell is easily obscured by cosmetics.

And here’s my favorite interesting sex fact:

  • On any given day approximately 400 million people across the globe will have sexual intercourse, which means 4,000 people are having sex right now.

So much for your sex education class.  I hope I’ve filled your heads with lots of annoying goodies you can think about while enjoying your next sexual interlude.

CLASS IS NOW IN SESSION

It’s time for two more lessons from those super dedicated and intelligent teachers from Every Useless Thing University.  The source of endless supplies of knowledge mostly forgotten by the every-day citizen.  Take detailed notes because our tests are tough and the failure rate has been climbing in recent years.

Lesson #9 – What is Snot and Why is it Sometimes Green?

Snot is a slang term for mucus, a thin and slippery material comprising musins and inorganic salts suspended in water that’s produced by the mucous membranes inside the nose. It serves to moisten and protect the nose and throat while also trapping inhaled foreign matter, keeping it in the nose and thus preventing dangerous particles and germs from reaching the lungs, where they could cause damage. Mucus surrounds any foreign matter that is trapped and dries around it, producing a hardened piece of snot.

Mucus production is normal and healthy, but increased production in the respiratory tract is often a sign of a disease, such as the common cold.

When snot appears green or yellow, this is usually because the body has a bacterial infection, causing it to produce thick mucus containing pus excreted by the bacteria. When the body’s immune system detects the infection, it produces an enzyme called myeloperoxidase, which kills the bacteria in the mucus and expels it through the nose.

The nose produces almost a cupful of snot every day.

Lesson #10 – Does Penis Size Vary by Race?

The penis sizes of men are frequently discussed and joked about. A large penis is coveted by many, considered a symbol of masculinity and thought to be an attractive quality to women. The size of a man’s penis is influenced by a number of factors, such as cold temperatures, which generally reduce the size of the flaccid penis to a lack of blood flow causing it to shrink.

One study found that the average length of the stretched, flaccid penis was 5.2 inches for White men, 5.7 inches Black men, and 4.2 inches for Asian men. Another study, meanwhile, found the average length of the unstretched, flaccid penis is 4 inches for White men and 4.3 for Black men. Black men’s penises were also found to be longer when erect, but only by 1 inch, while their circumferences were found to be in average 0.1 inch larger.

On the basis of these studies it is evident that the average black man’s penis is larger than the average white man’s which is in turn is larger than the average Asian man’s. Corroborating the latter part of this conclusion is a further finding that American condoms are 7.1 inches long, whereas Japanese condoms are 6.3 inches long. For this reason, at one time travel-guides recommended that male travelers should take their own condoms when visiting Asia.

What have we learned today?  First, snotty noses serve a useful purpose but wiping them is still mandatory so as not to gross out others.

Second, for you female students who overly concern  themselves with penis size, the information contained in Lesson #10 should be helpful.  You should always remember this important and useful adage to further assist you when choosing a possible boyfriend or mate,  “It’s not the size of the club but how it’s wielded.”

EVERY USELESS THING UNIVERSITY

Class is now in session, so please take your seats, pay close attention, and prepare to become a little smarter.  Our lessons for today are as follows:

Lesson #7 – Why Does Alcohol Cause People to Urinate?

The reason why people urinate so frequently while drinking alcohol is because it is a diuretic i.e., a drug that increases the amount of urine produced by the kidneys. Caffeine, too, is a diuretic.

Alcohols diuretic effect works by preventing the blood regulation function of vasopressin, and antidiuretic hormone that acts on the kidneys, compelling them to concentrate urine by increasing the resorption of water. Decrease in vasopressin therefore reduces the amount of water reabsorbed by the kidneys, resulting in the production of larger amounts of urine. This diuretic effect draws water from the body and causes a person to urinate more fluid than they imbibe.

The diuretic effect (or diuresis) is caused not by the volume of liquid drunk but by the alcohol content of the drink itself. A shot of spirits will generally cause a person to generate as much urine as they would if they drink a pint of beer.

Now you know the reason for the consistently long lines at restrooms during sporting events.  The next time your at a party and you hear the phrase “I could piss like a race horse”, get out of the way and let that person pass.  You certainly don’t want any back splash on your shoes.

Lesson #8 – Why Does the Penis Shrink When It’s Cold?

In cold weather or water, a man’s penis will often retract and reduce considerably in size. This phenomenon sometimes referred to as “shrinkage”, and it occurs for a number of reasons, primarily that of temperature regulation. The testicles are contained in the scrotum and suspended away from the body, owing to the fact that sperm can be produced only when conditions are slightly cooler than the core temperature of the body. The temperature range in which sperm can be produced is very narrow, varying by only a couple of degrees, and when the environment gets too cold the scrotum retracts, drawing the testicles closer to the body to increase the temperature. As the penis is attached to the scrotum, this retraction pulls up the penis along with it.

A sufficient steep drop in temperature will also prompt the body to reduce the amount of blood circulating to the extremities and appendages, and concentrate blood flow in the core of the body in order to check the vital organs. As the size of the penis is affected greatly by the amount of blood that it receives, when a drop in temperature causes a reduction in the amount of blood reaches it, the penis shrivels and decreases in size.

Penis can also reduce in size when a man is startled or frighten, again because the body retracts the scrotum to the body for maximum protection, following the penis and with it.

Now all of you ladies out there have the inside scoop.  You should no longer take it personally if a man fails to respond to your many charms since he’s either cold, wet, startled or even  frightened.  If he is none of those things then you have a serious problem that can only be solved by kicking him to the curb and moving on.

I’ve always been highly skeptical about statistics and how the numbers are so easily manipulated to suit whatever parameters the publisher of them desires.  So I sit here today in January enjoying a little Sunday quiet time catching up on my reading.  I purchased a book recently that uses the term “Number Freaking”.  I love the term and as I began to scan through the book I knew almost immediately this book would forever remain in my personal library.  It’s funny in part but also not so funny because it verifies most of my fears about statistics.  Crunch the numbers until they say what you want them to say.  Ask any politician.

I really don’t want to go negative today.  I think we all need a good laugh when we can get one and I’ll supply you with one free of charge this morning.  The following statistics are humorous and as always here on this blog, gender neutral. I’ve listed one for the ladies and a second one for the men.

In 1988 Paul L. Jamison and Paul H. Gebhard published an analysis in the Journal for Sex Research of the data collected by Kinsey on penis size. Here is some  good or bad news depending on who you are.  These numbers are averages measured in  inches.

Flaccid Length – 3.89

Flaccid circumference – 3.75

Erect Length – 6.21

Erect Circumference – 4.85

Erectile increase in length – 2.30

Erectile increase in circumference (girth) – 1.11Average erectile angle – 15 degrees above the horizon

Average erect diameter – 1.24

Average time to achieve an erection – 3-8 seconds

Women in Kinsey’s studies also stated that on average they took just under four minutes to achieve orgasm while masturbating.  With a partner it took them between ten and twenty minutes.

How are you guys measuring up so far?  Some good, some bad, and some OMG, “Help me Lord”.  Now to the next step. These are stats on length of erection by age and minutes.

16-20 – 12.00

21-25 – 42.88

26-30 – 53.09

31-35 – 47.24

36-40 – 40.62

41-45 – 31.07

46-50 – 29.02

51-55 – 21.62

56-60 – 26.67

61-65 – 19.50

66-70 – 07.00

71-?? – 00.00

While these stats are averages, I might  have to take some issue with them but really, what do I know? These are the facts man!   Let’s move on to more statistics which may be of interest to the men out there.

The concentration of human sperm has fallen 29% recently,  from 87 million in a milliliter to just over 62 million. Twenty million sperm a milliliter is the lower limit of normal. At orgasm  a man produces around 250 million sperm.

The Penguin Atlas of Human Sexual Behavior claims intercourse takes place, worldwide, 120 million times per day. Assuming an average of one male per coupling and one orgasm per male, the men are producing 300 million billion or 30 quadrillion sperm a day.  That would come to (no pun please, this is serious stuff) 90, 000 sperm per minute, or 130 million sperm a day.

Man, that’s a whole lot of sperm.  I’m sure these stats are telling us all a few useless bits of information we didn’t know before but so what.  As I said at the start you can make of them what you will.  Just another pile of useless information from the blog that’s full of it.

Have a wonderful sperm filled day.
