04-28-2015 Journal – Good v. Bad Government!   Leave a comment

As much as I’ve tried I’m still unsuccessful in eliminating politics from my long list of topics of conversation on this blog.  To say I’m disgusted would be a huge understatement.  I’m seeing things happening these days in this country that are impossible to believe. On top of that we’re being lead by a President who is an absolute disgrace to both the political system and to the country itself.  The only disappointment greater than his presidency are the millions of people in this country who listened to his BS, bought it hook line and sinker, and voted for him twice.

‘U . . S . .  A!,    U . . S . . A! ,    U . . S . . A!’

The downfall of any successful enterprise is having an uncaring or uneducated group of people in places of responsibility.  With that thought in mind maybe we should once again listen to the men who helped create this nation instead of ones who are trying to damage it as much as possible. It could take a new generation of intelligent and caring people to undo the damage caused by this man and his administration in a short eight years. The real problem in my mind is an electorate that seems willing to give total control of their lives to a group of elitist fools concerned only with their own wants and desires instead of those of the country.

I again sincerely apologize for talking about politics on this blog.  Maybe these gentlemen can explain it better than I.

12-29-2014 New Year Resolutions!   Leave a comment

thOCURA5VC

With New Year’s approaching I’ve begun to think about my resolutions for 2015.  In preparation for the new list it only makes sense to review last year’s resolutions.  It might be necessary to use a few of them that I failed to live up to again this year.

2014

  • Read five books a month. COMPLETED
  • Teach the grandson  one curse word per month once he begins talking. He still isn’t talking enough to complete this one. FAILURE
  • Keep the number of F-bombs below 100 a week. COMPLETED
  • Drink less brandy than last year but more than next year. COMPLETED
  • Spend less than $300.00 at Dunkin Donut for the entire year ($25.00 per month). . . . as of 12/28/2014 $391.32. BIG FAILURE
  • Stop dancing naked near the picture window in the living room, it scares the neighbors.  I managed to stop the dancing but not being naked seems impossible for me. FAILURE
  • Fight to my last breath to keep chickens and goats from becoming part of my life. COMPLETED

Four completed out of seven seems pretty good to me but I need to improve that next year. I’d really like just once to complete all of them but I always seem to get sidetracked with other stuff.  I may need a few easy ones for 2015 that won’t require me to work so hard. With that thought in mind here is my new list.

th2IT5L143

  • I vow to exercise for forty-one minutes every other day for the entire year.
  • I vow to call President Obama nasty names only during months with an "R" in them.
  • I further vow to never say anything good about President Obama in months without an "R".
  • I vow to never blurt out any F-Bombs in front of the grandson now that he has started repeating damn near everything.
  • I vow to say many more F-Bombs around those people (except the grandson) who irritate, annoy or piss me off.
  • I vow to stop flirting with just anyone.  There are times when I feel like such a slut and that’s not always a good thing for my self esteem.
  • For the third year in a row I vow not to prance naked anywhere near the front picture window.  It creeps out the neighbors and one or two of our regular joggers.
  • I also vow not to screw with my cat as much this year due to his advanced age and sharp claws.
  • I vow to take at least 500 really good photographs a month.

I’ll do my first review of these new resolutions sometime in June.  Hopefully I’ll be on track to complete every one for the first time.  As always the road to hell really is paved with good intentions.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

08-18-2014 Journal Entry – Doctor’s Suck!   Leave a comment

I have a few least favorite things but two in particular. First, I hate having my teeth drilled. The sound and smell of teeth drilling makes me cringe because it’s been done all to often over the years. Second, I hate doctors, nurses and hospitals. I do realize they’re  a necessary evil but I hate them none the less.

My late mother was never a well person. Through all of her illnesses and surgeries there paraded scores of doctors who spent more time spending her money than fixing her problems. Each specialist prescribed different medicines and drugs with little or no thought to the many others doing the same damn thing.  They almost killed her a couple of times with their constant insistence that the next drug was the one that would fix everything.  She trusted them with her life but I will not.

I’m ranting about doctors because I spent yesterday afternoon being manhandled by the new and improved healthcare system.  Obamacare cost me my doctor of fifteen years when he threw up his hands last year, sold his practice, and left the country. I really wish I could have gone with him.

I arrived yesterday to go through an annoying series of blood tests which are required every time I turn around.  I arrived early being the obedience dumb ass  that I am and then sat for forty minutes while I waited for a computer person to enter my name into a freaking computer. Big surprise, they had no record of my blood test request or my upcoming doctors appointment.  My obedient behavior became a thing of the past as I intimidated everyone involved to pull their heads out of their collective asses and get their act together.  After another half hour I was advised that my doctors appointment I thought was scheduled for next week had been changed. Oops, no one sent me an email or letter telling me that.  After much bitching and complaining on my part they agreed to fast-track my blood work to have it ready for my newly scheduled appointment tomorrow at 10am.

thTD5IEZHC

I had a surly and annoying young lady stick me and remove a number of tubes of my beautiful red blood.  She was in quite the mood about something but decided to be an asshole toward me.  Little did she know that I was once married for a very long time and that my-ex wife made her look like an freaking amateur when it came to pissing me off.

It’s now tomorrow and I’ve just returned from my annual doctors appointment  All my numbers were perfect but he insisted on giving me the old one fingered prostate exam while a female assistant looked on. She was hot enough to be one of my hundreds of sexual fantasies but not after today. That ship has sailed.  He then announced that he had an early Christmas gift for me this year. He’ll be scheduling me for my fifth colonoscopy in the last 9 years. My ass seemed to be very popular today for some reason.

Just to reiterate, I hate effing doctors, Medicare, Obamacare and Obama as well.

Well the better-half is finally on her way to Delaware.  Her getting ready for a five day trip was much like the American soldiers preparing for D-Day.  She packed everything except possibly a bazooka and c-rations.  She spent five whole days packing for a five day trip which meant a minor crisis every hour or so for me to deal with. “Where’s this thing? Where’s that thing? Where did you put my recharger? My phone isn’t working properly, fix it! Why isn’t this GPS thingee working? It doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to.” Man, I’ll need at least five days of rest to recover from her packing.

This posting will be all over the place today.  A little of this and a little of that. For instance, I’m always telling everyone how much I love living in Maine and thankfully I found something that will explain it clearly for you. We have an abundance of natural wonders here but it’s the people that keep me interested.  We were riding around a few days ago and came upon what could be called the Mt. Rushmore of Maine. Check it out.

This is a perfect example of free thinking Americans voicing their opinion without fear of reprisals from the liberal left.  I appreciate their sentiment as well as the perfect way in which it was displayed.  Subtle but effective.  Here are a couple of close-ups so you can read the signs a little easier.

‘One of These Thrones is for Biden too!’

Now let’s talk freedom of expression and mailboxes.  I created a photo book a few years ago with dozens of photo’s of unusual Maine mailboxes.  The Fed’s have a whole list of requirements for people who install a mailbox.  It must be so many inches high, so many inches from the road, and God forbid if it’s not an approved US Government design.  They may threaten you with a vicious bureaucratic note if you don’t obey their rules which just scares the hell out of no one.

DSC_6817

I also love those little threatening notes they occasionally drop in my box or attach to my door that informs me that they’ll stop delivering my mail unless I clear the snow and ice from my around my mailbox.  It’s Maine for God’s sake. There are times when I can’t even find it to clear the snow away.  It’s either buried under three feet of frozen concrete or the town’s snowplow has removed it from my property and dropped into the yard of a neighbor a few hundred yards away.  The fact that it will be in five or six pieces doesn’t seem to concern them either. The citizens of Maine apparently didn’t get that important government memorandum on mailbox requirements and if they did, they ignored it. I continue to find many mailboxes  which violate all of the rules of the USPS which just makes me smile. It’s just a simple and direct way for Mainer’s to throw the big middle finger to the Fed’s.

Freedom is everywhere in Maine as reflected by this sign at a local biker bar. It just isn’t necessary to make up an impressive and phony name for your band. Just call things exactly what they are. Who wouldn’t drive a few miles to hear this group perform and throw back a few drinks as well.

12-16-2013. Resolutions   Leave a comment

I’m still trying desperately to figure out exactly what New Year’s resolutions I need to make for 2014. I’d like just  once to be taking this process seriously instead of resorting to silly and humorous resolutions that I never intend to keep. I decided as always that further research is necessary to assist me in my endeavors.

Being the patriotic citizen that I am what better place to start than with the always politically correct US Government webpage. Here’s their suggested list of New Year’s resolutions for 2014 which are so politically correct and lame they must have been written by Obama himself.

Drink Less Alcohol

Eat Healthy Food

Get a Better Education

Get a Better Job

Get Fit

Lose Weight

Manage Debt

Manage Stress

Quit Smoking

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Save Money

Take a Trip

Volunteer to Help Others

I was seriously tempted not to put that list in this posting because it’s so damn embarrassing.  However it’s important that I look at all the possibilities when trying to decide what will be my goals for the new year. During my research I then discovered a suggested list of New Year’s resolutions for senior citizens. I knew that list was going to piss me off because there’s no way someone who is not a senior citizen can write a list for senior citizens.  Here’s that list and it’s only a little offensive and condescending.

  • Visit your local senior center.
  • Plan to eat at least one nourishing meal a day, not junk food or fast food, but a real meal.
  • Increase your social contacts and make new friends at any senior center.
  • Consider getting help If you live alone and don’t have family or friends.
  • Learn how to use the Internet.
  • Schedule regular exercise.
  • Clean house. Go through your residence to identify items you no longer want, need or will never use again.
  • Get your papers/affairs in order.
  • Consider a personal emergency response system.

Well was I right or was I wrong? You can’t expect much more from a non-senior.  Now, in an attempt at diversity which I’m almost always famous for I decided to see what our friends in the hip-hop community are resolving to do during 2014. These listed resolutions are not from one single rapper but a number of people involved in the hip-hop music scene. They’ll speak for themselves with no further comments from me.

  • I’m an artist…Silence is my canvas!
  • Focus more on the music.
  • By the end of the year I’d like to receive some monetary compensation for creating music.
  • As nice as it is to get weed or liquor for beats, I think I’m ready to step up.
  • Stop spending more time on set up and reading manuals than I do writing.
  • Start playing my saxophone on a daily basis again? Oh yeah, and get some exercise…..
  • Return to sample based 90’s boom bap including scratches.
  • Take guitar lessons.
  • Get back to basics and not focus on what I hear on the radio and finish my studio.

My one last attempt at finding some real help on the Internet landed me onto the trail of a British stripper. Her heartfelt resolutions touched my heart and seemed more genuine  than most of the others I’ve mentioned. This is obviously a woman who loves her work and is trying to make those improvements necessary to increase her revenue stream. If I knew where she actually worked  I just might be tempted to pay her a visit and be talked into stuffing a few good old American dollar bills into some really interesting British places.

  • Work on my flexibility.
  • Whiten those teeth.
  • Work at least four days a week.
  • Work on a few new variations to my lap dance routines.
  • Wake up sober on Thursdays.
  • I’m going to begin yoga until I can once again lick my own leg.

All of this research hasn’t help me at all. My list of resolutions for 2014 is still tentative. I can’t decide on what approach to take in writing them and this research has made it even more difficult. I have a few weeks before the end of the year and I’ll continue my diligent efforts to come up with a few real resolutions I can strive for.  I’d hate to be forced to again  resort to making a list with items that are humorous, sarcastic, and silly.

More to come.

11-14-2013 The Basics of Obamacare   Leave a comment

The business of being a one-legged invalid continues.  It’s been two weeks since the accident and I’m going out of my  mind being trapped in this house.  I’m spending a great deal of time surfing the net but even that wears on you after a while.  I’m also sick and tired of hearing about Obama and Obamacare.

It’s always been said that you can tell how a politician or his programs are really doing just by listening to the late night comedians.  For years that’s been a much more accurate way to gauge things than polling.  Why spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year of our hard earned tax dollars on polling when you all you really need to do is tune in and listen to Jay Leno’s monologues.

I loved Johnny Carson’s ability to slam and ridicule politicians with a grin on his face and his audience laughing their collective asses off.  In some ways Leno and his writers are almost as good.  They never miss an opportunity to cut through the administrations BS and get to the real point in a funny manner. To me and millions of others this Obamacare program isn’t the least bit funny but as a last resort I’ll take the truth anyway I can find it.  Here’s a collection of some recent Jay Leno one-liners that explain Obama and Obamacare perfectly.  They’re funny and sad at the same time.

  • "The Obama White House website still says if you like your health plan, you can keep it. That’s false, of course. The president says they’re trying to correct it, but his website people can’t seem to log on."
  • "President Obama said he is sorry that some Americans have lost their existing health coverage due to Obamacare. I think he’s getting a little desperate. Today he said if you like your complete lack of coverage, you can keep your complete lack of coverage."
  • "President Obama’s approval rating is down to 39 percent. And Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who admitted to smoking crack cocaine, went up to 49 percent. How does this make Obama feel? He’d be better off smoking crack than passing Obamacare."
  • "According to CBS News, only six people enrolled in Obamacare on the first day of the rollout. Six! That means more people have walked on the moon than have signed up for Obamacare."
  • "Con artists are using Obamacare confusion to sign people up for fake health insurance. The scammers lure victims with false promises like, ‘If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan.’ The scammers will tell you that, so you have to be careful."
  • "There was some good news today for embattled Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Obamacare will cover all her injuries after the White House throws her under the bus. She is totally covered."
  • "For years President Obama has been saying that no one would lose their healthcare plan. Now the White House has admitted that in fact many people will lose their plans. But there is a way to keep the great coverage you have. Just become a member of Congress. Then the taxpayers pay for the whole thing."
  • "The White House now says the Obamacare website will be fixed by the end of November. So if your doctor has only given you three weeks to live, sorry pal."
  • "Today there were more problems with the Obamacare website. It seems when you type in your age, it’s confusing because it’s not clear if they want the age you are right now, or the age you’ll be when you finally log in."
  • "I tried to log on to the Obamacare website today. I don’t think I’m doing it right. I lost 300 bucks playing Texas Hold ‘Em."
  • "According to a new report, more than 700 fake Obamacare websites have been created. Security experts say it’s simple to identify the phony sites because they are easy to log on to."
  • "We’ve got the government shutdown, but the beginning of Obamacare. You know what that means? You can now complain to your doctor about the government making you sick."
  • "Before they went on vacation, Congress voted to exempt themselves from Obamacare. They gave themselves a special exemption because they thought it was too expensive. So the people who voted for Obamacare for us voted to exempt themselves from it. You know how doctors take the Hippocratic Oath. Congress apparently takes the ‘Hypocritic Oath.’"
  • "The White House approved an exemption in Obamacare coverage for Congress and members of their staff. Members complained that the Affordable Care Act will cost them thousands extra a year in premiums. Wait a minute. It’s their bill. If it’s too expensive, why did they name it the Affordable Care Act?"
  • "The Obama administration has admitted that under Obamacare, you might not be able to keep your doctor. At first the president guaranteed you’d be able to keep your doctor, and now they’re saying you ‘might’ be able to. Today Obama changed his slogan from ‘Yes we can’ to ‘Perhaps we could try. Can’t promise anything."
  • "President Obama told a group of school children that broccoli was his favorite food, and they believed him. Then he told them Obamacare would reduce the deficit and the kids all busted out laughing."
  • "This week will mark the 37th time House Republicans have tried to repeal Obamacare. If Republicans really wanted to do away with Obamacare they should just endorse it as a conservative non-profit and let the IRS take it down."
  • "Congratulations to President Obama on being reelected president of the United States. Turns out it is not all bad news for the Republicans. It seems that depression is covered by Obamacare."
  • "If you’re an illegal immigrant in Arizona hoping to become a citizen so you can get free healthcare, this is the greatest week of your life."

You have to admit that hearing about one of the worst political nightmares to hit this country in decades is best done with humor.  It’s way better than listening to me whine and cry and reiterate my feelings for this failed Presidency.

Now that most of the drama is over concerning my broken leg it’s time to get back to the serious business of blogging.  This country is on the road to Obamacare whether we like it or not.   The country was fed a bill of goods and we  and our children and grandchildren will now pay for that mistake.  There’s nothing all that funny about  it except for this article I found recently.  This is the kind of thing we can look forward to dealing with on a regular basis once Obamacare is in full swing.

Update on Nancy’s Surgery

Dear Family and Friends,

Most of you know our friend Nancy went in for a Butt Lift surgical procedure using the ObamaCare Medical Plan.

She didn’t have the most pleasant experience and should have just left well enough alone. We wanted to show you the results so you’ll have some idea of  the quality of care you’ll receive from the Affordable Healthcare Act(ObamaCare).

Please . . Whatever you do DO NOT get a Butt Lift through the ObamaCare Medical Plan.  The ObamaCare qualified Doctor who handled Nancy’s surgery was a 3rd year foreign exchange medical student making 12 bucks an hour.

BUTTLIFT

You’ve been warned!

I also found these two limericks which I thought were poignant and conveyed my thoughts perfectly on Obama.  They were obtained from a web site that held an Obama limerick contest.  Thanks to these creative individuals for giving me a chuckle or two.  I hope you enjoy them as well.

I’ve spent the last week listening to and hearing about all the wonderful things the politicians and government are proposing to resolve and fix all of our countries problems. I’ve been a constant critic of this country’s politicians for some time now and if you know me at all that should be an red flag.  I’ve always been a patriotic citizen well schooled by my father and grandfather and proud of their service to this country as well my own.  To have me bitching and complaining about the Unites States is something I always knew was expected but never thought would be necessary. With the asinine proposals I’ve been listening to about the handling of illegal immigration and border control, I think I need to speak up once again.

We now exist as a “nanny nation” in an atmosphere of give-away’s.  Pay farmers not to grow crops, entitlements out of control with no one even attempting to slow them down, and full benefits for every illegal immigrant who can find his/her way illegally from any where.  Close to thirty percent of the population is collecting food stamps and almost an equal number are on  some sort of disability.  In my humble opinion any person who believes that drug addiction and alcoholism are disabilities that require government subsidies, needs to buy a ticket on the next boat to any other country they’d like to live in.  I‘d vote a big “Yes” for temporary government subsidies to help all of those folks pay for their relocation. Maybe Europe would be the place for them to settle.  They went down this road themselves over the past forty years and are now suffering the obvious consequences.

Taxing the money-makers and giving that money to alleged needy people and illegal immigrants is insane.  I hate to tell you but when the number of people collecting entitlements out numbers the money-makers, the end is near. Socialism can destroy any nation if permitted to flourish and if you don’t believe that ask anyone from the former Soviet Union. You can also check in with any number of the European countries currently on the verge of default. I’ll bet anything if they could go  back and make a change they would.

I guess my question is this.  Is drifting into socialism a logical progression when certain groups attempt to demonize hard work as a problem to be dealt with rather than a goal to be reached?  I don’t have all of the answers but as any damn fool can see, the leaders of this country don’t either.

Is it too late to stop this madness?  Unfortunately I think it probably is.  This insidious propaganda has been fed to use for decades and it appears a majority of citizens are just going along to get along.  The old statement about “inmates running the asylum” has more meaning now than ever before.

What would you rather see? Janet Jackson’s nipple or a newborn baby cooing to his mother?

What would you rather hear? President Obama’s reassurances that everything will be alright or a love song from Taylor Swift.

What would you rather taste?  Lemon juice or whipped cream.

What would you rather smell?  Someone’s body odor or freshly baked bread.

What would you rather touch?  The sharpness of a razor blade or the fur of a kitten.

I’ve just given you a tour of the five human senses which everyone is endowed with, allegedly. Common sense should make the answers to these questions really obvious.  You have just experienced your first poll here at Every Useless Thing.  I can report the following results:

15% of my readers hate cooing babies.
15% of my readers hate Taylor Swift.
85% of my readers hate lemon juice.
15% of my readers love body odor.
85% of my readers hate razor blades.

My poll is just as ridiculous as most of those polls you hear being mentioned on the news all too frequently.  I was recently called by some BS polling outfit who began asking me a series of political questions so slanted and biased I was stunned.  Would you rather die a horrible death or approve Obamacare?Would you rather pay a few more dollars in taxes or see your children die?  Would you rather vote for someone who wants clean air or a Republican?

You get my drift I hope.  Polls are just another way to manipulate the citizenry through biased and rigged questions by alleged experts who we’ve never heard of before and whose qualifications can’t be verified. It’s an easy matter for any of us to create a  fictitious organization, give it an official sounding name, with official business cards and stationary, and release polling information slanted in our specific political direction.  If the Media likes what it hears, the poll will be broadcast on the news for days with the talking heads giving it their support. If they don’t like the results then it’s buried and never seen of heard from again. Since the great majority of media folks are self-proclaimed liberals you can see the problem.

This kind of manipulation was one of the things the fourth estate was to help identify and warn the population about.  That was one of the checks and balances incorporated into our form of government by the Founders.  The Media was to be our unbiased watch dog and protector against governmental abuses. With that protection slowly disappearing we’ve now become vulnerable to a government that wants to control every facet of our lives while the Medias stands by and applauds.

We should be worried because it’s been getting progressively worse every day.

I was just sitting here trying to decide what I should post today when I received an email from my nephew in Dallas.  He’s lived there long enough to be called a real Texan and he’s proud of it as most Texans are.  I’m passing the contents of his email along for all of you to read.  It’s humorous to the Nth degree but the underlying message is something I also feel strongly about.

I only wish I could be the guy who picks the contestants for this Texas version of Survivor.  I have at least ten possible candidates that truly deserve to to be put to this test.  I won’t name them but I’ll bet anything you can figure most of them out on your own. Please let this happen.

Survivor — Texas Style

Due to the popularity of "Survivor" shows, Texas is planning to do one  entitled: "Survivor – Texas-Style!" The lucky contestants will all start  in Dallas, drive to Waco, Austin, San Antonio, then over to Houston and  down to Brownsville. They will then proceed through Mission, up to Del  Rio, El Paso, Odessa, Midland, Lubbock, and Amarillo. From there they will  go on to Abilene and Fort Worth and Finally back to Dallas.

Each contestant will be required to drive a pink Prius covered with the following 15 bumper stickers

"I’m A Democrat"

"Amnesty For Illegals"

"I Love The Dixie Chicks"

"Boycott Beef"

"I Voted For Obama"

" George Strait Sucks"

"Re-elect Obama In 2016"

"Vote Eric Holder Texas Governor"

"Rosie O’Donnell Is Texas Born"

"I Love Obama Care and Chuck Schumer"

"Barney Frank Is My Hero"

"I Side With Jane Fonda"

"It’s Bush’s Fault"

“Islam Is A Peace-Loving Religion”

and the last sticker will read:

"I’m Here To Confiscate Your Guns"

The first contestant to make it back to Dallas alive wins.  What more can I say except "Remember the Alamo and the Constitution".
